It’s been a minute since I started blogging!
I’m still surprised at myself when I think of how randomly and abruptly I took that leap of faith and started on this food blog journey many moons ago…and I am so glad I did!! I wasn’t really into cooking or photography or writing for that matter. Growing up, I never even entered the kitchen or helped mom with cooking and considered it a chore when I was forced to do it during grad school and after getting married but over time I embraced it and I fell in love with it. As a novice home cook searching for recipes online, I stumbled upon many blogs, spending hours immersed in their stories and drooling over mouth-watering photography.
One fine day in August 2008, I decided to start blogging about my home cooking adventures. Just a couple of days later, I launched my blog, right on India’s Independence Day. Even though I didn’t get much site visits or had a major following in the initial years, the blog encouraged me to keep going and to pursue my newly kindled passion for cooking and also for food photography. To improve my skills in developing recipes, food styling, and photography, I underwent formal training at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. Since then, I have applied the fine cooking techniques I learned in culinary school to create new recipes, reinvent Indian classics, and retrofit beloved family recipes, that I share on my blog here, alongside mouthwatering photos.
My blog has opened many doors of opportunities for me over the years. Over a decade ago, upon moving to the Bay Area, my blog inspired me to start cooking classes. Now, I take pride in making Indian home cooking accessible to the wonderful people in the San Francisco Bay Area. As cooking classes picked up over the years, blogging slowed down significantly and I went on a hiatus for almost 5 years until I was able to get back to it in 2020, thanks to the pandemic! It was during that crazy time in the world when I got several opportunities to collaborate with leading brands in the food industry, globally and then came an opportunity of a lifetime – the publication of my debut cookbook!
Blogging has brought me immense joy and fulfillment, and I hope I’ve provided some value to all of you as well! Thank you SO much for your love, support, encouragement and engagement over the years. If you’ve tried any of my recipes, please let me know how it turned out. I’d love to hear about your signature concoctions.
