For Earth Day 🌎 this year, I wanted to share a simple, zero-waste idea to spice up your coffee! Save the cardamom pods after using the seeds for other recipes like Cardamom & Rose Palmiers, for example. You can make Cardamom Coffee using leftover cardamom pods!
Cardamom flavored coffee is very popular in India! Growing up, mom would throw 1-2 cardamom pods in the pot while making the coffee. She would carefully save the pods after using the seeds in cooking so that she could use to infuse tea or coffee with the natural warmth and sweetness from the spice.
You can simply transfer the leftover pods to your coffee canister or drop them into the grinder along with the coffee beans and grind together.
You can also add them in the coffee machine directly when you add the coffee grounds.
Watch this video I put together to show how you can do it:
The cardamom pods, just like the seeds inside, are quite aromatic and have an amazing sweet, warm flavor that will give your coffee the subtle fragrance and the exotic sweet flavor as it brews. It’s so delicious, easy to make and a unique pick me up, perfect for anytime of the day!
